I’m not adding MP3s anymore because my spiffy Mac laptop was stolen. It would be possible to record them on my old Toshiba linux box, but I think I’d have to recompile the kernel with sound drivers - not worth it right now. I could probably get them online from my minidisc player somehow, but the effort curve is pretty steep for that, too. So for now this is just a list.

I don’t think it’s what I thought before - it doesn’t hurt in the right place. I finally asked the doctor about it; on the diagnosis form, he checked the box beside “Synovitis/tendonitis/other,” which translated from Doc-ese means, “Who knows, but at least it ain’t broken.”

Did I mention that my definition of “one per week” might not coincide with yours?

A week off to let my wrist recover. Sigh… I think it’s an inflammation of the extensor carpi radialis tendons where they pass over the wrist bone (number II in this handy image from a U. Oklahoma lab exercise). But I haven’t had anyone look at it, so that’s pure speculation at this point. Fortunately it goes away if I coddle my wrist for a while.

Thanks to a nifty new feature of Wordpress 1.5, this is now somewhere else.

No tune for this week, because I was in Miami at a conference. Yes, I changed some dates on some of the entries post facto - what’s new?

The only word I know with three double letters in a row. Anyone else read Encyclopedia Brown at a tender young age? I’ve gone back and redated all the tune entries to match the associated week instead of the actual day of entry. That’s to make the January archives contain the January tunes, and so on, since I’ve been pretty sloppy about posting regularly. The unfortunate side effect of that decision is that all existing links to my archives are now broken, but I don’t think there actually are any. Readership here is currently pretty low. And yes, I’ve learned four more tunes, so my repertoire is up to date; it’s just the page that’s lagging a bit.

See, I’ve been learning tunes, just not posting them on any kind of regular schedule. The past month’s tunes were fairly easy ones, but I made up for that by putting sets instead of single tunes for a couple of the weeks. Why do I care? Who knows.

I moved to Nashville, Tennessee for a postdoc at the end of July. Now that I’m settled in, I’ll be back in the groove.
